January Mish-mash

Well, things sure have changed this month with the birth of our baby! But these are all pre-baby.

New Year's Day was a chill day in our jammies coloring and playing games.
The girls had never played Pictionary before! Sin!
Easton went to Primary for the first time. He LOVED class and plays with the "crown" all the time and tells me how much he loves his teachers. BUT he does NOT like singing and sharing time. He was brought to us in Gospel Doctrine and announced, "I want to go home!" (We are STILL struggling with him staying in Primary.)
Sadie loved her new teachers. They gave her a CTR ring.

I found these lovelies in my email. Cambree sent me a bajillion emails with these silly pictures.

This is Sadie if you couldn't tell. :)
Stephanie asked me to design t-shirts for her dance studio again. They turned out pretty cute!
I don't take many pictures usually but since this is the last baby, I had to document it a little better.
38 Weeks
We went out with friends to dinner to Gloria's Little Italy. We wanted to go to Red Robin but there was no way I could wait over an hour to eat! Gloria's Little Italy didn't have a wait so we went there. The food took longer than normal so the waitress gave us free gelato. That's what I'm talking about!

39 Weeks
Fortunately or unfortunately, Easton has been getting really good at games on the computer. PBS Kids is his favorite. The last few weeks of my pregnancy have been tiring to say the least. :)
Easton told me to do "big hair". I guess this was big enough.
The weekend before the baby we went out almost all day. We had lunch and saw a movie. We saw Mockingjay, finally.

40 Weeks!
The day before Caden was born was Martin Luther King day so the kids didn't have school. What could we do that I wouldn't die doing? Swimming! The kids have been dying to go and swimming would feel pretty good for me.

Yup! I talked him into painting my nails the night before the baby. I picked blue. :)
The week after we had the baby, Brinley had to do her science fair project. Yeah, nothing like waiting until the last minute. Luckily, she is old enough to pretty much do her own!
She was testing what temperature the sugar would dissolve.

She REALLY wanted me to go to the fair. I didn't quite know what I'd do with the baby since I didn't want to take him to the school with so many kids and germs…yeah, I'm THAT mom right now. I asked my neighbor if she wouldn't mind coming over to sit with Caden while I went over there really quick. She gladly came over and watched him for me.
What is up with my crappy focusing?
We finally took down his Christmas tree that he was so proud of that he made at co-op.

Caden's First Week

The first week flew by with going to several appointments. It's so annoying to have appointments when you first have a baby. At least my mom was here to help me get to them since I was still on some meds and I wasn't supposed to drive.
When Caden left the hospital, I guess they were worried about his weight. I didn't find out what it was but they wanted him to come in to the office for a weight check. He was 7 lbs 10 oz. So they were a little worried about it being so low and wanted to see him back in 2 days. The doctor said he needs to be eating every 3-4 hours. Caden had been sleeping 5-6 hours at night so I would have to wake him up. Dang! I was hoping that wouldn't mess him up. I know…I've been spoiled. We put him to bed late and then he gets up around 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. It's pretty awesome only getting up once with him. So I woke him up during the night and made sure to wake him up during the day to feed him every 3 hours and 2 days later, he was 8 lbs 2 oz! So they definitely didn't need to worry about him and I'm NOT waking him up to feed him. I have been nursing him and then topping him off with formula so I'm sure that's why he can go so long. I'm still trying to get my milk supply up so I try to pump after every feeding. I'm sure that won't last too long. Feedings already take almost an hour.
He also got circumcised that day so that was pretty traumatic. My mom wanted to watch and I wasn't sure. I saw the doctor get him all prepped and when he was ready to cut, I just couldn't watch. I stayed in the room but made sure I didn't see anything. It was SO sad!
Caden's first bath was a family affair! They all were SO excited to see him get a bath (which was just a sponge bath since his cord was still on). They were asking every 10 minutes when it was time for his bath. Crazy kids.
He was NOT a fan of bath time.

He's got a nice comb-over. :)

This is Avery holding Caden. Tiff and Avery came over for an afternoon to visit me and mom. I should've taken a picture of Logan holding Caden too. He loved it! We were still trying to get Easton to hold him.
He is SO sweet! I still have to wake him to feed him during the day.
Brinley finally got Easton to hold Caden. It didn't last long but at least he wanted to.

Nicole came over for a visit to bring him this newborn outfit. She had to bring it before he grows out of it! And it looks good on this blanket Jody made for him.

He is awake sometimes!
Jody came to help me take his newborn pictures when he was 9 days old. He was really good! We got some good ones! I was glad she wanted to help since recovering was still an issue.
When Caden was about a week and a half, we took him over to Shawn's parent's house. They needed to meet their last grand baby (most likely).

Easton asked to hold him this time. He is so soft with him and likes to see how he's doing.
Well, so far so good! Hopefully things don't change too much and he stays a sleepy, easy-going baby.

YW New Beginnings

I was SUPER bummed that I was in the hospital just having had a baby and couldn't go to Brinley's first New Beginnings. SO bummed. Shawn and my mom got to go with her though and Brinley was understanding about the situation. I helped plan it but couldn't come. We went off the Youth Theme for the church which was Embark in the Service of God. So we went with a boat theme. Shawn was good to tell me all about it.

They had banana boats for refreshments.
I was happy I got to take pictures of all the YW.

We have 4 goals that go with the youth theme with month to "serve with your heart, might, mind, and strength". Heart-doing baptisms in the temple, Might-making kits for Days for Girls, Mind-memorize The Living Christ, Strength-complete a 5K Value Run
They are pretty lofty goals but we can do it!
