A Brave Tale | Brinley's Play

I signed up Brinley for a play this year to see if acting was her thing. I already knew she liked to sing so I wanted to see if she liked theater. I heard about Up With Kids and it was reasonably priced so I thought I would let her try it out. It started at the beginning of the school year and went clear until April. They have only been practicing the play since January though. About 1/2 way through the year, Brinley said she didn't really like going but that she would stick it out until the end. I guess I have my answer!
The performance was at AF High and my parents came to watch her. We got a sitter for Easton and brought the other kids. The play was called "A Brave Tale" that somewhat followed the "Brave" movie storyline with a really weird super hero ending that should've been omitted. :/ The songs were cute and from various Disney movies with the words changed a little. Brinley doesn't look too enthused the whole time but she said her one line and sang the songs with a kind of half smile on her face. Maybe she would've liked it more if a friend did it with her. Oh well. She REALLY wants to do voice lessons so we signed her up for that this summer. I think she will love it.
 Getting instruction before the show...

Ready for it to start! (it was actually REALLY LONG!!!)
 She's got some attitude!
She's the tall witch. The costumes were actually really good!
She said her one line. It had to do with wearing big glasses. I should ask her what her line was.
Weird super hero scene.

 The End.
Wow! She got an Oscar for her performance!
Sadie pretended to do some acting too.
Of course many pictures I am in aren't focused. Ugh.

Spring Break-Day 5 & 6

Boo-hoo. We were checking out of our condo and heading home. But first we wanted to check out the pier. It was pretty cool! People were fishing and surfers were surfing. It's just such a fun beach environment.
We had a few more Drumsticks left. Rob said they had to have a dance-off and whoever wins gets to pick first. It was so funny to see them dancing like crazy on the street!
The Pattersons
Us! Sadie still insists on pulling faces.
Oh yeah...isn't he cute? ;)
Spencer didn't want to be in the picture. Angie made sure he didn't have a choice!
The pelican was just sitting there. All the kids wanted a picture with him. Brinley freaked out when he started to spread his wings!
 The bait shop. Lovely.

Then, we had to say our good-byes to the Pattersons and went our separate ways. We were headed to San Bernadino to see Shawn's brother, Kyle. He is in a state hospital there. The timing was perfect and we met up with Melanie (Shawn's sister) and Moe so they could see Kyle too! They were going to Disneyland that week. Kids can't go so I stayed MANY hours with the kids at McDonald's. It wasn't too bad (and it was pretty clean!) but I did get a complaint from a parent about my kids playing guns (which another kid brought). Ugh. I have girls so guns are a whole new thing for me. I wasn't aware that it was such a scary thing. Oh well. But the kids got to see their cousin, Casey, for awhile and they had lots of fun with him.

Moe can always get the kids laughing.
Then, we headed to Vegas to stay the night at Shawn's brother's house. Cambree did do the zip line in their backyard like she said she would!
The next morning, Sarah kept her kids home from school for a little bit so they could all play together. Sarah teaches several aerobics classes and I wanted to go with her to try Body Pump. It's kind of a weight lifting class. I really liked it and it was fun to see Sarah teach.
I forgot to get a picture before my shower...but I'm still red-faced and hot. It doesn't take much!
Then, we hopped in the car and headed home! We got back around 7:00. My mom met me in Lehi so I could get Easton from her. I was so excited to see him! He was happy to see us too! He had learned a couple new words and was particular about wearing his jacket everywhere we went...hot or cold. Baths were traumatic. I don't know what happened there. But other than that, he was happy and healthy! Thanks, mom!!!
And that's our trip! Sorry for the long saga but we don't go on vacation much. It was so fun and I just had to document everything!

Spring Break Day 4 - Legoland Aquarium & Beach

Day 4 was Saturday, April 6th. Shawn's birthday and General Conference. We had LOTS to fit in so we got an earlier start. Our Legoland tickets included admission to the Legoland Aquarium. It opened an hour earlier than Legoland so we decided to beat the long lines at shoot for getting there at 9 am. It worked and we drove right in!
The aquarium was alright. I think the Utah one is actually better than that one and we aren't by an ocean! But they did have all the things you would want...except no sting rays! We were done pretty quickly, which was nice with all we wanted to do that day...more overload of pictures!

I love pictures of jelly fish. :)
The older kids raced through the aquarium and were done long before little Spencer was. He loved looking and playing with everything. Rob called us back to watch the diver show. That was pretty neat to ask him questions as he fed the fish. The fish sure love him!
Here is our crazy crew (minus Shawn who actually took a picture!)

I REALLY wanted pictures by the big Legoland welcome sign so we walked over there afterward. LOVED it!! We couldn't leave without doing that!
All the cousins!!
Brinley took this shot. Not too bad!
...and this shot. M is for Missy!
After that, we came home had lunch and made the kids watched one session of General Conference before we went to the beach. The kids were actually REALLY good and Brinley commented about how Conference isn't boring and how interesting it is. She's growing up!

NOW, it's time for the beach!! Since it was Shawn's birthday, we let him boogie board pretty much the entire time and not take a turn watching the kids. Stinker! He still didn't get as good as me. ;) The tide was higher in the afternoon than when we went the other day. The waves were more brutal and harder to catch. I got pummeled and scraped up pretty bad one time. :/ But Brinley got the hang of it and was loving it the whole time too! I knew she would.

More sand creations. I love that Colden is a lynx!
The water was still cold!
I don't know if Spencer ever went in the water. He was content to play with all the sand toys.

Cool pelicans.
Colden and Rob were finding little sand crabs.
After the beach, Shawn and I got all cleaned up to go out to dinner for his birthday. So nice to have built-in babysitters! But it sure would've been nice if they could've come too!
We had a little bit of trouble finding a place to eat. Shawn is all about the food and more about the quantity than the quality. Especially when I'm on vacation, I'm more about the location and experience. I wanted to go out to the pier to have dinner on the dock at Ruby's but Shawn didn't think that would've been a great meal and it was too crowded. :( So we drove around. He looked up a place that said it was like P.F. Chang's but when we got there, it was more like a Panda Express. No good. So we tried looking up places and waits were too long and ended up at Mimi's Cafe. Yup. A chick place. I was laughing. So he went all out and got appetizers. I loved my crepe! But I don't think he liked his meal too much. Dang.

After that, we came home and had eclair cake (his request) and....PLAYED GAMES, of course!
