Our Forever Neverland Project

I started doing a project with a bunch of other talented photographers. It's called Our Forever Neverland. You can check out the blog here. We photographers think we take lots of great pictures of other people's kids but not enough of our own kids. I couldn't agree more! So this has helped me capture those moments that I might have otherwise caught with my phone. Not to say that I don't pull out my phone to catch a moment, cuz I surely do! But this helps me capture the moments with intention and to try harder to get just the right angle, composition, etc. It's been fun!
You can only pick one image to display on the blog and it's hard to decide! So I will show more than one here on my blog.. cuz I can!

Week One. I {heart} naptime. So it's sometimes a disappointment when he wakes up sooner than he should...but most of the time he does what he is supposed to. :) He was a little mad at me here cuz I didn't take him right out of his crib...but I had to get my shots! :)
I couldn't decide between the color one or black and I let the administrator of the blog pick. She picked the color one.
Week Two. It was such a nice week! We played outside most of the time. Cambree made the cutest chalk person. She said it was her...she even started talking to it. Should I be worried? ;)
Week Three. I had a crazy week but snapped this photo at my cousin's wedding. I was the photographer but Shawn brought the kids for a minute. I love the angle and that he's yelling at the mirror. He is always yelling!

Week Four. Bath time is definitely a ritual at our house. I'm lucky enough to have a husband that does it most nights. But this night, I had to do it. Easton doesn't like the tub much so he abandoned Sadie long before she was ready to get out. She is so crazy with her faces she pulls.
I'm so lucky to be a part of this group! Such talent! Really! Check it out here!

Avery's 1 YO Birthday Party

I guess my niece, Avery, gets a blog post all to herself! My sister, Tiff, made a big deal about her 1 Year Old Birthday party. She went all Pinterest with decorations and refreshments! It was so cute! It was also a good way to build her portfolio for graphic she says. ;) Her in-laws from Washington came, my parents came, and David's birth mom's family. So it was a full house in her little apartment! But it was fun talking and Avery had all of our attention.
I only brought my cell bummer for crappy pics. To see better pictures of her 1 YO session I did that Tiff had all over, go to my photo blog here.

The baby food jars were favors with homemade chocolates in them.

She didn't totally dig in to her cake...just softly touching it and licking her fingers. So dainty-like. :)

David's mom, Ellen, gave me a toy to use to get baby's attention when I take pictures. She's so sweet. I think it'll work!
Avery opening our gift. Brinley and Cambree have been going to so many birthday parties and Sadie was feeling left out until we told her we were going to Avery's party. She helped Shawn wrap the present and was excited to give it to her. Awe...

How to Host a Murder

Ok, so I NEVER throw parties. Not that I don't like to but I just don't have a reason to...mostly I'm just worried no one will come. My mom found a How To Host a Murder party box at DI. I borrowed it and wanted to do it. I knew people would HAVE to show up if they played a character!  The theme was the 1920's in Chicago. Shawn was a cocky baseball player and I was an owner of a lounge named "Silky". I was supposed to wear a long, silky dress but didn't have one. I went shopping and found a short, cheap (thanks to Ross!), red, kind-of silky dress that I will wear again. So I was happy! Shawn bought LOTS of Martinellis and we decorated the house like a speak-easy...which is a back room of a bar where you can drink prohibited liquor. :) I bought black, plastic table cloths and taped them all over the room so it was black. We put lamps and candles around for the lighting. I also printed up some pictures I found online of speak-easy places. I wish I would've taken a picture of the place! It looked fabulous! The game included a dinner menu but I wanted this to be simple and just asked everyone to bring an appetizer and I would supply the chocolate fountain. So the food certainly didn't match the era but I certainly can't resist an opportunity to pull out my chocolate fountain!
We got our food and started playing the game. It was pretty intense and no one really had it figured out until the very end. Well played. Some of us got into character better than others (I'm certainly no actress!) but it still worked out and was really fun!
Phone pic right before the party. :)

The Baldwins got 2 pictures taken cuz I was checking my lighting. :) Loved his suit jacket! Devin was a lawyer and Julie was a reporter. They definitely dressed the part. The mustache was such a nice touch!
Heather was a pregnant singer :) and Chris looked great in all his argyle to pull of his golfer character.
I actually did have someone cancel on me so it was great that the Wagoners were able to come last-minute. See what I mean? It was stressing me out that people won't come! But the Wagoners looked great with their costumes they came up with on such late notice. Rachel was a flapper and Rob was a millionaire. Loved the fake toilet paper roll cigar.
And here we are! It was so fun to do something totally different and out-of-my-element for a night out/in. I'm definitely not smart enough to play the game (I guessed wrong) so good thing others got it right. Loved it! Who's up for the next one?

February Mish-Mash

With my iPhone I just might be good at taking more pics of our everyday life! We shall see...
It also makes blogging much more efficient! Long blog posts and lots of pics.
This is Brinley's face during the Superbowl. She teamed up with her dad and cheered for the 49er's. I wanted the Ravens to win. My roommate from college's brother plays on the team (Dennis Pitta)...and former BYU player. It was such a close game (well, the 2nd half) and super fun to watch. Ravens won!!!

I actually think Sadie is on to something here. I love the colors she used and made a pretty cool picture on my iPhone app. :) Shawn thinks it looks like an 80's picture.
If you're on the floor, you will get climbed on! And, of course, we have to give him the iTouch to help us get through Family Home Evening.
Her hair was so static-pron and dry this year. It's always flying all over.

This girl was tired! She came by me while I was reading and fell asleep. Loved it!

This girl (Victoria) swipped my phone during baby co-op! If you don't know what co-op is, it's pretty much amazing. Drop off your kids at other people's houses and then you take a morning to watch other people's kids. One Popsicle stick per kid per hour. You never have to feel bad about asking someone to watch your kids! And my kids love playing with their friends.
Victoria took this one too. They all seem to always end up playing dress-up sometime during co-op.
I don't know who took this (probably Sadie) but I love how they watch TV together like this. Brinley likes to snuggle.
Easton into mischief already! And he's still in his pj's!
Getting his 6th hair cut. I SOOOO did NOT want his hair cut but I think it was time. I only let her take off an inch. I think it already needs to be cut again. You could barely tell.
I was trying to get an after pic but it didn't work out too well.
Even in his high chair I couldn't get a pic. It focused on his food. Yum!
There. See? Not too much cut off. Shawn wasn't too happy about it. He wanted it short. :/
Sadie wanted her picture taken. I was happy to oblige.

Don't you take away my pink, sparkily headband! I will scream at you! He likes wearing headbands. :)
I was checking my lighting settings for a shoot for my sister...found here, and Cambree was happy to let me check on her.

I bought some studio lights! I set up one and was just playing around with it. Brinley was happy to be my model...silly thing. :)
Then, Easton joined the fun. This was before his hair cut!
Then, Sadie got in on it. Oh, this was Saturday morning. Our Saturday mornings are usually slow-going...although I had already been to the gym. :) So hair wasn't done and some were still in pj's. Love Saturday mornings!

And, of course, Cambree couldn't be left out!

February was pretty darn fun. Can't wait until this warm weather shows up. Notice it was snowing the day I took these pictures. It snowed A LOT! Ugh.
