Merry Christmas to All!

Dang! I'm out of order but wanted to post my Christmas card before Christmas. Just made it! Here's what's going on with our family that I sent out with our Christmas card...this is mostly for journal purposes. :)

2012 Christmas Update

The Hancocks haven’t had much to report this year…which was kind of nice, actually! The only trip they went on was down to Zion’s (again!) for the Hancock family reunion. (Easton is REALLY awful in the car.) They stayed in a big house with a pool with plenty of photo-ops all around. Shawn, Missy, & Easton hiked The Narrows which was especially beautiful while the girls hiked with their aunts and cousins. They went to their first rodeo as a family and Shawn’s first rodeo ever! It was pretty fun but I think they enjoy the city-life more.

SHAWN is busy with his position as Financial Aid Manager over Athletics at the University of Utah. He is also helping his bro-in-law start an online personal payment and social fundraising business called Tipping Circle. You should check it out (www.tippingcircle.com)! He still has been active in church softball and football. Once again taking region in softball.  Other than that, there is not much else to report. He just loves spending time with his family.
MISSY is still in the Primary and now is Brinley’s teacher, which is a delight! Brinley likes to answer every question so it makes her look good! Photography is still very much a part of her life and definitely keeps her busy. She also got a new baby… a upgraded Canon camera, that is. She has been taking workshops to grow her business into using studio lighting next year. Missy also helps out in Cambree’s classroom every week. She likes to see how Cambree behaves. J
BRINLEY is now 9 and in 4th grade! She still loves soccer and has become a pretty good goalie. She is in Up With Kids all year where they learn how to sing, dance, and act. They will perform a play at the end of the school year. Singing is definitely one of Brinley’s loves and she has a really good voice. Brinley continues to love playing the piano and taking lessons.
CAMBREE recently turned 7 and is in 1st grade. She is flourishing in school and doing quite well. She is becoming such a good reader and her teacher’s only complaint is that she gets distracted and talks…STILL! She is playing soccer again and did score 1 goal this season. Although, her real love is dance. She also loves playing with friends.
SADIE is such a cheerful 3 year old! Her family loves her cute words and her happy disposition. Her speech still isn’t where it should be but she is working on it. She started taking dance lessons this year and LOVES it! She wishes she could have dance class every day of the week. She also has playgroup with a bunch of little girls her age. Sadie didn’t start preschool yet but she likes routines and doing things like her older sisters.
EASTON is 14 months old and toddling around now! He had a little bit of a rough year with many ear infections, which resulted in getting tubes in his ears at 6 months old. Shawn has high hopes for his only boy and likes to show off Easton’s superman pose (he can be held by his thighs and remain completely horizontal). He’s got strong abs! Easton definitely demands the most attention and his sisters freely give it to him. His scream can break glass (or it least it seams like it;). He is at a fun age right now and the family loves it!

We love you all and hope you are all well. May you have a beautiful Christmas Season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Have a wonderful year!

Live Nativity

So I guess in Alpine there is a live Nativity every year. I would always hear about it after it was over. They only do it for a couple days and then it's over. So this year I marked it on my calendar right after Thanksgiving so I could find out about it. Good thing I did cuz it was right at the end of November. I really didn't know what to expect but I had heard that the lines could be long. They had a matinee time this year so we did that. It was perfect! Not too cold and no lines! We rode up in a horse trailer to the property. Then, you walk about a 1/4 mile until you see Baby Jesus. Along the way there were shepherds, sheep, camels(!), a donkey, goats, horses, Roman guards who asked how old my baby boy was (I said 3), a little Bethlehem city where they showed us how to make things like leather, woodworking, bread, pottery, etc. It was AMAZING! I felt calm and peaceful and hopeful when we finally saw Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus. It was beautiful. The girls wanted to do it again, but the little ones needed naps. We will for sure be going every year! LOVED it!!
So Easton LOVED all the animals! He was SO excited!
Did you know donkey's have a cross on their backs? I'm sure it's not a coincidence. So cool.
Everyone got hot chocolate (except Easton) and were happy campers!
Can't wait to do it again!

Bowling BABY!!

So I hadn't seen my BFF in like a month! She does hair and was busy and my busy months are fall so we just were too busy! But we made time to go on a double-date. We went to a good Asian restaraunt I just discovered and then bowling! I haven't been bowling in FOREVER! Nicole and I commented that we actually like to go bowling because it's the one thing we can beat our husbands at. Uh...so NOT the case this time. I guess I need to brush up on my bowling skillz! At least I wasn't last! Ha ha!
Nicole bowling...probably getting a gutter. ;)
Shawn chucking the ball down the lane!
And the final score. Pretty pathetic.

Can't wait to go again! Next time maybe I will hit 100.

Turkey Day!

This year it was the Davis side to have Thanksgiving...which means quite a few people are involved. You've got my immediate family, with Tiff's family and J.J.'s family, and then my Grandma comes and also my aunt and her family and my cousin who is from Texas but at BYU came. So it was a full house!
We came the night before and helped mom with the food. The girls had fun rolling the rolls. I'm so glad my mom teaches them to bake because I don't do it too much.
We also had a nice array of pies! I made a pumpkin cheesecake pie that was a hit! I also made it for a Hancock Sunday dinner a few days before where it was loved also. I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin pie but Shawn is and I LOVE cheesecake so it was a great compromise!
Two cute babies eating their after Thanksgiving snack. Avery and Easton are 6 months apart. Can't wait to get all the babies together this Christmas!
After everyone left it was time to get our shopping figured out. We were kinda bummed that things were starting Thanksgiving evening but there was something on our list that we HAD to have so me, my mom, and my sister Tiffany braved the crowds at Walmart! It was a little nuts but I got what I wanted and we had to wait for event 2 for my mom to get what she wanted. So we were there for a LONG time just doing a lot of waiting but we got everything we wanted (and then some!) so it was worth it! Then we stayed up late playing Settlers of Catan.
The next day, we slept in!! We always go early for Black Friday but we already did our shopping! I bought a few things online but that was it! We decided it was nice enough to go to the park and let the kids run around. We also played a little soccer game. It was boys against girls, 2 on 4 and we still lost even though Shawn only kicked with his left foot AND he held Easton. Oh well. Our team was only me, my mom, Brinley and Cambree...and Sadie. :) Shawn told Brinley she was better than me at soccer. I don't know if it's true or not. My mom made me think I was doing SO GOOD! But she IS my mom and moms should make their kids feel like that. :)
Brinley is real serious about this swing pushing stuff. :)
My cute parents going after the soccer ball.
Sadie took this cute picture of my mom...
...and this dark one of my dad. :)
Thanksgiving was great with SO much to be thankful for! I have such a wonderful family and I can't wait to spend more time with them at Christmas. LOVE the holidays!!

November Outings

The weather has been SO NICE that we've been out doing a few things in between all the photo shoots I've been doing. It's that busy time of year for us photogs!
The kids did a good job cleaning the house in the morning so we took them to Trafalga with Cambree's friend, Jordyn. Sadie is so big and can ride many of the rides. The girls LOVE laser tag and we did that too.
Here are the girlies. I still struggle with the phone camera. This was using the flash. What's with the purple color cast? I dunno.
Another weekend we went to a big family fun festival. There were crafts, food, bounce houses, etc. It was put on by UVU. It was crowded even though we went later in the evening. It was pretty fun and the kids had fun. I guess that's all that matters.
Cambree as a hairy armpit boy basketball player. Don't think that will ever happen.
I love that Sadie pulled that face without us telling her to. So fitting!
Nice. Maybe her future?

They did some watercolors. I guess we don't do it at home enough. :/

Easton was kind of a pill not wanting to stay in his stroller. Thank goodness for Shawn's massive biceps to carry him around all evening. ;)

First Snow!

They weather has been crazy good and then all the sudden it snowed! Then it was crazy good again. I'm talking almost 60 degrees (at the first of December). I'm not complaining though. I like crazy good. :)
So this was Easton's first time in the snow. We got him all dressed up in DI snow pants, purple boots and pink mittens. I feel so bad for this kid. He wasn't walking at the time so he was just crawling around in the snow and falling on purpose into the snow on his face. It was pretty funny. Then, he didn't like the snow and would crawl on the cement and in the gutter. So yeah, his snow fun lasted about 5 minutes.
Ok, so her hair is looking really straight now. My sister pointed it out and I denied it but now I'm seeing it. Oh well. At least it's curly on the bottom. Still can't complain about her gorgeous hair!
