Christmas Week

It seems there was a lot of anticipation before Christmas. The girls didn't have school much of that week and were going CRAZY just waiting for Christmas! So, we went to my parent's house early in the week to distract them a little and my sister and her husband were flying in from Ohio and we wanted to see them as much as possible. My girls LOVE their Aunt Mandy!
Shawn worked and was able to catch a bus from Tooele. We stayed and played! Tooele had enough snow to go sledding! This was Sadie's first time sledding and she loved it! I was glad my dad came along so I wasn't going up and down ALL the time helping them with the sleds. I even got to go down a few times. That's been awhile! :)
I love how Sadie is looking up at Cambree all weird.
After a little while, Sadie just wanted to take her gloves off and eat the snow. So I distracted her by going to the playground. She loved that and when it was time to leave, she threw a fit!

The girls came over after a bit.
My Grandma was there for the festivities. She is sure brave to come over when there are so many kids and commotion!

Presents from cousins. Thanks Colden and Dylan!
Christmas Eve, everyone was finally all here. J.J. and Kristy's family had been sick all week so they were hoping they could make it and they did! We just relaxed and played games (I think) and got dinner ready...come of us slept...I'm sure Tiff won't want a copy of this picture! Ha ha!
Cute little guy...he got one of those Tabbie Blanket thingies from Justus. I think he'll love sucking on those tabs. :)
Here we all are for the annual candlelight Christmas dinner. We barely fit...and the kids are at another table in the kitchen. Brinley always insists making some kind of craft when we are at my mom's house. She heard about a tradition in England they do and wanted to do it. They are called crackers and you open them and they are filled with candy and toys. So we all opened ours after dinner.
Then, it was time for the annual talent show. Brinley played "Up on the Housetop" while Cambree sang. They did a GREAT job!
The guys sang "O Holy Night" while Mandy played. First time they even sang together.
Mom put our family and J.J.'s family in charge of the talent show so in between numbers, we did little skits involving the audience. Mostly just cheesy Cub Scout skits. It went rather well. :)
Then, it was the annual Nativity reenactment. Cambree was Mary, Brinley was a sheep, Sadie was supposed to be an angel but hated her costume, and Easton was supposed to be Jesus (which I had been excited for) but wasn't in the mood.
After the program, we opened our presents from my parents since we were heading home that night to have Christmas at our house. It's just too crowded at their house.
Sadie got a baby. I love that she hugged it right away. :)
Whoa, this is getting to be a long post!
Christmas morning on a Sunday! Luckily, we have church at 1:00. Everyone was awake! We only had to wake up Sadie. They were SO anxiously waiting. I didn't even make them eat breakfast first this year. I made a breakfast casserole the night before so it was in the oven. I really like that tradition and I think we'll do it every year instead of making German pancakes.
The cute, new jammies are from Grandma Hancock!

Let's see what Santa brought!

Easton got a little play gym, but didn't care to play in it until just a few weeks ago.
And we had to get the annual Christmas Sunday picture. The place was a mess with Christmas exploded everywhere and we had to get to church. I did my best to get out the clutter. :)
Another reason we came back home for Christmas is because Shawn just HAD to sing in the church choir. I'm sure they just would've sounded awful without him. ;) He also failed to mention that he would be sitting in the stands almost the whole time! I had to take Easton out cuz he was cranky and let Sadie roam the halls. NOT one of the best Sundays for me.
I really have that many kids??? It blows my mind!
I have ornaments on my tree of Baby's First Christmas. I had a vision of putting him in this HUGE stocking I bought. I tried to put him in and he was too big!! I couldn't believe it! There goes my vision! Oh well. He looks cute under the tree too. Hope you had a great Christmas...even though I'm a month late!

Easton's Blessing

We were going to bless Easton in November, but Shawn's parents were going to Vegas for a baptism. So we changed his blessing to December and they STILL couldn't come! Oh well. At least his blessing outfit still fit...barely.
Easton was blessed on December 3rd, 2011 by his daddy. It was a beautiful blessing that reaffirmed why he was sent to our family at this time...no matter how much I fight it. ;) Only one of Shawn's brothers could come and his back went out that very morning so he couldn't stand for very long. Shawn sister's family was there, my parents, my sister and her husband and my brother's family. My BFF was there with her family too but had to skip the dinner afterwards.
My mom spent the night and helped out the next morning so we were ready early enough to get a picture!
A few people have said Easton looks like J.J., my brother. What do you think?
Of course, I forgot to take pictures while everyone was there for the dinner. But my parents stayed to help clean up so they got a picture with the cute boy.
Chocolate stains, messy hair, but still all smiles. That's how it goes with 4 kids most days. Just trying to make it through the day!
I took his blessing pictures another day. Shawn couldn't believe how big he looked in the suitcase. I'll admit, he didn't really fit.
Some with the proud father...also taken on a different day. I tell ya, this kid doesn't like pictures! That's a first for me!
Loved his little shoes.
And a few bloopers. This one looks like he wants to punch someone. And I love his lips. :)
He was all done! This is the only one I got with this background. Oh well. Babies always get what they want. :)

Easton Smiles!

Yup! Our boy is now smiling at people and interacting a little more. It's so fun! He's 3 months old now (but he started smiling and laughing at 2 months). He likes to try and sit up already. I think he's pretty strong and has massive hands. I'm sure he's nearing the 16 pound mark. We will find out at the end of the month! He is also getting a little better fussiness-wise. He still seems to have tummy trouble but not as much. He probably is inconsolable only 1 night a week now. He still isn't on a sleep/nap schedule which is driving me crazy too. I've tried doing Baby Wise (a book) but couldn't figure out how to make it work for him. I made it cry-it-out twice to put himself to sleep and to stay with the schedule and it never worked. But as soon as I pick him up to put him to bed, he falls asleep pretty easily. So I guess I could've tried harder. But it would just be nice if he could figure it out on his own. Being that he's my 4th kid, I thought I would have him figured out...not so much.

Cambree told me that I don't take enough pictures of her and Easton. She is my biggest helper so I should!
This is my favorite shirt he has! It says, "Hungry I am" with a picture of Yoda. So true!
And cutie-pie getting burped by his daddy. I just LOVE his big eyes (too bad they have red-eye. I REALLY need to not be so lazy and get my good camera).
Anyway, this is all still a learning experience! I don't think you can ever figure kids out. They are all so different. I'm glad and I'm also glad we have Easton. He brings everyone closer as a family. Gotta love that!

You know you have too many kids when...

...you totally loose one in the mall. We took the whole family to Build-a-Bear (there was a recall on the bear Brinley had so she got a new one!) yesterday. Whenever we go places, I feel like there are too many kids on only one of me. This trip Shawn was with me so that makes it feel more manageable. Anyway, Shawn went out of the store cuz it was too crowded with our big stroller and just sat outside. As we were checking out, Sadie saw Shawn and ran out to him. She kept doing that, in and out, until she went out and then into Tai Pan, about 2 stores down. Shawn quickly wheeled the stoller into Build-a-Bear so he could go after Sadie. He looked all over Tai Pan and told me he couldn't find her. So I started looking in Build-a-Bear in case she came back in and I didn't see her. Nope. I go looking into Tai Pan...Shawn decides to go farther down the mall. We are probably looking for 5 or 10 minutes (which seems like eternity and I was started to really freak out) until Shawn found her at the information desk. A lady found her and brought her there. I was glad she did because looking for a 2 year old in several stores in the mall would've taken FOREVER!! She could've been ANYWHERE! We were SO relieved. And she got a sucker from the lady because she ran away. Way to enforce that naughty behavior. :) I really feel overwhelmed when I go places and try not to go out much...which drives me crazy. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to not run away. Does anyone have any tips for me???

Along those lines, Shawn lost his iPhone also yesterday. Last time I saw it, Sadie had it and I had told her to put it back. We looked all over the house until about midnight. I found it in our little mini fridge and it still works. She loves to play in that thing and I'm glad I thought of it. I really HATE looking for things...especially when it's your child!

Christmas Festivities

Oh boy. These are just some of the things we did BEFORE Christmas. There will be more (someday) about what went on during Christmas break. I'm not complaining though. I LOVE the holidays where I get to be with family, staying up late, and going out. It's been a fun time. It's especially nice when Shawn has so much time off.
ANYWAY, December started out with the Ward Christmas Party. We focused on doing service this year and made newborn kits for those babies that are born to mothers that can't afford the necessities for their infants. It was great getting the kids involved and then presenting all the kits at the manger for baby Jesus. My niece also sang while we ate a yummy dinner. She has a lovely voice.
I was a little disappointed that Santa didn't come to the party this year. The kids were looking forward to it. See? Cambree is a little sad/mad.
Easton spent some of the time like this. What a sweetheart.

So, we had to find some other Santa to take the kids to. Turns out, Kohlers is a GREAT place to see Santa!! They give them a little treat bag with a list of chores and things they should be doing for Santa to come. Gotta love that! They also got donuts and chocolate milk or soda. I think we will be doing that every year!

Brinley actually found out the big secret this year. She wasn't surprised. She's never been one to have much of an imagination. She asked Santa for Barbie hair extensions. She doesn't play with toys much either. She's growing up!
Cambree wanted an Easy Bake Oven. I was surprised by that but she does love to help me cook.
Sadie was so cute and went right up to sit on Santa's lap. She wasn't even scared. I think that's a first for my girls at this age not to be scared. She says, "Ho, Ho, Ho" and "Santa". It's so cute!
One other thing we did was go to the Princess Festival at the Provo Towne Center. My girls look like rag-a-muffins compared to all the other girls dressed up in their princess outfits. It's so hard to get us all ready for the day and I didn't have the energy or time to get them all dressed up again. So they just wore their dresses over their clothes. Brinley did NOT want to dress up.
Here they are making their snowflakes. They got to write about something nice they have done and put it up on their wall.
The storyline was cute. It was about treating others nicely and sharing. The girls got to participate in a song and dance. Sadie was a little lost. It was decorated so good and the actors did a great job. They all had a good time!
