Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! I hope the holidays haven't been too crazy to enjoy this time of year. I surprisingly have! Not too much going on...except 4 KIDS! We've had a great Christmas. There's just something special about having a baby boy at this time of year.
I LOVE giving and getting Christmas cards. This Christmas card was in my head even before Easton was born. Shawn altered it a little putting the kids' faces on the side. He said you couldn't see their faces as well in the big picture. So he kinda ruined my vision. But it's all good! Some of you I've sent this to and some of you might want one. So if you want one next year, email me your's my email: missynshawn [at] hotmail [dot] com.

2011 Christmas Update
The Hancocks have had an eventful year. It started out with quite the surprise! They were expecting a baby! This was so NOT in the plans. But when they found out that it would be a boy, they just knew it was the right time for him to come. So, they had to make sure they got some vacations in before the baby came. They went to Bear River Lodge and did some 4-wheeling with friends. Then down to Zion’s, staying in a big cabin with Missy’s family. Followed by a quick trip to Prescott, AZ to visit Missy’s sister & fam.
SHAWN is still working at the University of Utah, but he did have a position change. He is now the Financial Aid Manager over Athletics – which is fitting, considering his interests. However, it is also ironic, being that he is still a staunch BYU fan. In his free time he still likes playing softball and flag football. This year his church flag football team went undefeated. So now his church team has a softball and flag football region title. He also got a chance to hike the Narrows in Zion’s National Park with some of Missy’s family. This was by far the best hike he has ever been on.
MISSY got to check off an item on her bucket list. Shawn surprised her with tickets to the U2 concert. It was AMAZING! She is now in the Primary and is Cambree’s teacher, which is a blessing (and a curse)! Her photography business is still going strong, but has definitely slowed down with 4 kids. Having 4 kids has thrown her for a loop!
BRINLEY is now 8 and was baptized this year! She still loves soccer and has become a pretty good defender. Brinley is also continuing to take piano and is getting so good. She’s in 3rd grade and is excited to get her “license” to write cursive.
CAMBREE recently turned 6. She has been enjoying Kindergarten where her teacher says she’s good except that she likes to talk a lot. Big surprise ;) She is our little dancer! She likes to show her stuff to anyone who will watch.
SADIE is a terrific 2 year old! She hasn’t gotten jealous at all with her new brother. She loves to hold him and kiss him and know where he is at all times. Sadie’s exciting news this year was a broken arm. It broke above the elbow and it was VERY hard keeping just a sling on a 2 year old. She sort of kept it on for 2 weeks but then it was a lost cause. She also got tubes in her ears and RSV again. She’s been an expensive child! She loves climbing on things and following her big sisters around. She is a slow talker, so hopefully this next year she’ll be saying more…especially words we understand.
EASTON is about 2 months old (depending on when you get this). He can almost hold his head up and will smile at us. Big milestones! ;) He is the family favorite right now!

We love and miss all of you. We wish we could see everyone more…at least there’s Facebook! May you have a beautiful Christmas Season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Have a wonderful year!

Lots of random in here. These are all from November and December...getting caught up!

First up, Brinley entered the Reflections contest at school. She's wanted to do it every year and I finally let her do it this year. We started on it early before the baby came so it wasn't too crazy. She wanted to enter the Photography category (like mother like daughter!) and I showed her how to use my good camera. We went to the temple and took pictures of flowers. She LOVED it. Then, we picked out the ones she wanted to use. She wanted it to be a college which we made on Macey's website. Ta-da! She didn't win but it was a fun experience. They did have a drawing that night and she won tie-dye. Lovely mess, but fun! I even got a shirt out of it. We are all going to wear our shirts on Christmas morning, as per Brinley. :)

Ever since Brinley and Cambree have been sharing a room, their relationship as gotten so much sweeter. They play together so much better. Who would've thought? I found this precious note from Brinley and just had to save it!

My mom was turning 60 this year!! I can't believe it. She SO doesn't look 60! Anyway, I wanted to do something fun for her...I got the family on-board and it worked out to just do dinner and games at my house. So my brother and his family, my sister and her husband, my dad and my Grandma all came over. Some of it was a surprise, but my dad isn't very good at keeping it all a surprise...and neither is my sister that kinda spilled the beans a few hours before mom came over. :) Dad bought Asain take-out, we got mom a Snickers cake (Snickers are her favorite!) and all the kids went in on a wireless printer for her. She loved it!
Brinley took all the pictures...I was a little busy throwing a party and doing some video.

Last but not least, Cambree used Sadie as her guinea pig. She got creative using lip stick instead of eyeshadow. Sadie LOVED it and wouldn't let me take it off. The lip stick left her face a little pink for a few days...TWICE!

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving felt pretty low-key around here which was nice. It was the Hancock's turn for Thanksgiving and Shawn's sister, Lynnette, was hosting. Through a series of different events, it turned out that many of the Hancock family couldn't come. So it was our family, Lynnette's family, Shawn's parents, and Lynnette's friend's family who didn't have anywhere to go...kinda random, but the spread of food was awesome and we had a good time. It's nice Lynnette lives so close so we didn't have to go far.
We ALWAYS do the crazy shopping after Thanksgiving. But we decided this year (kinda by default since no one was around at 5 in the morning to be with the kids), to just do it all online. Didn't really work out so well. I even begged Shawn to get up at 4:30 to go to Home Depot to score a Christmas tree and he didn't get one. So disappointing! Oh well. Hopefully next year!
Cambree had a Thanksgiving feast at school. She makes a VERY cute Pilgrim. :)
I made some rolls (like already made rolls...I just had to put them in the oven...I wish I could make yummy homemade ones) and we put papers of what we are thankful for in them. I saw the idea on TV. Then, you try and guess who said what. It was pretty easy with our little family but still a fun tradition to start. Shawn's was pretty obvious it was from him:
I'm pretty sure he meant the edible rolls I made. ;)

All About Cambree

Back in October, Cambree was the star student in her class in Kindergarten. We made a poster (well, actually my mom made it and I took the pictures because I had just had Easton) and she took it to school. She's such a spunky but sweet girl. Here are some of the things she said:
Favorite Color: BYU Blue
Favorite Food: Quesadillas with just cheese
Favorite Ice Cream: Rainbow
Favorite Place to Visit: Mountains-staying in a cabin
People in My Family: Dad, Mom, Brinley, Sadie, Easton
Something I am Good At: Coloring
Something I Dislike: Carrots
Something I would like to learn in Kindergarten: Practice writing my letters
List some books I like to read or have you read to me (picture below).

She has always said she hates carrots but I really think its an act. She says she likes cooked carrots better. What? I always thought they weren't as good when I was a kid.
She really has quesadillas almost everyday for lunch.

And something she said just today that made us laugh:
Cambree: You know I love you very much.
Dad: Yeah, I know! I love you too.
Cambree: I don't love Mommy as much cuz she's mean.
I told Shawn that she needs to stick up for me!

Homemade Cookies

I'm really not the baking-type I've decided. I want to be but I'm not. I've pictured myself making fresh cookies right out of the oven when the kids came home from school. Has that ever happened...uh no. If we ever have cookies, banana bread, brownies, etc., it's because Shawn made them. Sometimes I help. :) Well, I actually baked and even surprised myself! Nothing too special. Brinley needed cookies for an Activity Days cookie exchange. I found my fastest cookie recipe (cake mix cookies) and made some pretty dang quick. Sadie was "helping" me and thought it was pretty fun. This was such a special occasion I even pull out the good camera. :)
This girls are home from school! And they get fresh-baked cookies! It's a Christmas miracle.

Stir Crazy

I do get a little stir crazy when I have babies. I just hate staying inside and not seeing people! It's especially hard in the fall and winter to get out cuz it's so cold. I told Shawn I just HAD to get out and I didn't want to cook. ;) So we decided it might be fun to take the kids to The Mayan. We've never taken them there before and I haven't been there since my college days. I'm so glad we went when we did because it was closed for good the very next weekend! I'd have to say for a Friday night they weren't very busy at all. The food isn't great but the entertainment is! The girls LOVED the divers and the different acts. They couldn't stop talking about it.
So getting everyone to look all at the same time with my crappy camera proved to be impossible!!

The next weekend I was still going a little crazy, so last-minute we went to Trafalga. The girls LOVE laser tag and some of the rides were open that weren't open in the summer. We also ran into some friends from our neighborhood there. I guess it's a good place to go on a Saturday night in the winter.
Cambree DID NOT want to do this ride at first. We finally talked her into it before we left and then she wanted to do it again and again. She's such a chicken sometimes.
This is how Easton spent his time there. :)
And Sadie mostly played on the playland. It was a good night.
