Arizona-Part 2 of Zion's Trip

Oh so many things to blog about but I must finish up this trip! So after we went to Zion's we packed up and went down to Arizona to my sister's house in Prescott to see their baby, Spencer's blessing. We've never been there before and figured why not? since we were already 1/2 way. No one else was able to go except us and my parents.
The journey down there was quite the experience. About a 1/2 hour out of Kanab we came to some traffic. Everyone was at a dead-stop. No traffic was coming the opposite way either...we figured it was an accident. No help had arrived yet so it probably just happened. Shawn walked up to it (abt a 1/2 mile) and saw that it was a bad accident with a 1/2 a Lexus and a SUV and a boat. The guy in the Lexus died but the family in the SUV was ok. There wasn't cell phone service. We waited about 20 minutes and my dad looked at a map for an alternate route. He found one...a dirt road. So we turned around and relied on a map to find this little dirt road. We found it! Then, the GPS found it too and we were good to go! It was VERY rocky and bumpy and being very pregnant was NOT fun...and then I started feeling like I had to go to the bathroom. Oh boy. It was a good thing we had the Yukon cuz we definitely needed 4-wheel drive. We even passed some cars on the dirt road to make sure we were going the right way...even an Italian, which my dad thought was fun to say a little in his shaky Italian. :) We finally made it out on the other side of the accident and cars were still backed up and waiting. We still had hours to go! It was a LONG trip but we made it safe and sound.
We weren't all able to stay at their house so my parents stayed in a hotel and actually took Brinley and Cambree with them since their kids were already asleep. It worked out perfect! The next morning we got ready for church and for dinner after the blessing. Rob did a great job and Spencer was good during the blessing.
We took some pictures before church. He was all smiles!

Here's the group. Rob's dad was also able to come.
Cute Family!
He was a little fussy but Rob got some good smiles from him.
We were so happy to have been able to go down to be there for Spencer's blessing. After church, Rob showed us his new Orthodontic office. It's AWESOME and they have so many cool programs and things. I wish they lived closer so our kids could take advantage.
We came back to the house and just ate YUMMY food and chatted. I didn't take ANY other pictures, so this was it! Angie also took us on a little tour of Prescott. It's a cute town with lots of fun stuff to do. I can't wait to go back and go to the awesome lake!
Thanks, guys, for having us! We had a great time! We're glad the drive home was uneventful. :)

Bath Night

Sadie's hair is SO LONG! With it being curly you can't tell that it's 1/2 way down her back. I'm jealous of her hair. Anyway, we just were having some fun with it last night. I had fun doing this as a kid. Live Long and Prosper.

HaPpY FriDAy!!!

Zions-Davis Family Reunion

So at the first of August, we went down to Zion's National Park for a family reunion on my side of the family. I know. It's crazy being 8 months pregnant in that weather and hiking! But it's a reunion...I had to be there. :) My dad got us all a big cabin to stay in at Zion's Ponderosa. It was a nice place and it was fun being all together to play games and eat. We actually road with my parents in their Yukon...it was nice to not have to drive and the girls loved the DVD player. Totally unplanned, we actually met up with my 2 sisters and their husbands in Fillmore for a dinner stop. So we just caravaned down to Zions together. We checked in, made dinner, and just settled in the first night. We did play a game of Shoes, a Hancock tradition. It was funny cuz all the in-laws were the final four...us, Davis' don't got rhythm. The Pattersons got there later that night since Rob had to work.
Thursday, we got up and got going to hike in Zion's. We were just doing the little hikes cuz we had tons of little kids...9 kids under age 8 (and one on the way...actually 2. My sister, Tiffany, announced while we were there that she's pregnant! Due at the first of March.).
You have to take shuttles there so here we all are pretty much taking over the bus.

Sadie acting so big. Yes, she had to have a sling on the whole time. Still broken. :(
The first hike we did was Weeping Rock...very nice and very short. LOVE the trickle of water that comes off the rock. So refreshing.
Here's the group...minus my dad who was taking the picture.
Family picture...without Sadie looking at the camera. Oh well.

Then, it was already time for lunch. So we sat by a little river and my mom told us about our ancestors and Cable Mountain. We were at the base of the mountain and learned how they got wood from the top of the mountain to the bottom via cable. What's a reunion without an ancestor story or two? It was a nice, shady spot and the kids had fun playing in the water.
Sadie was kind of like this the whole day. Didn't know if she was tired or what. After we got back to the cabin, she had a fever. A few hours later it was gone. Maybe she was dehydrated??? I thought we gave her plenty of water. Poor girl.
After lunch, we got on the shuttle and headed to Emerald Pools to hike. The kids had a great time hiking TO the pools...not so much coming back. We only hiked to the lower pool too.
More refreshing water...ahh...
Cambree with her cousins. They had a blast!
Brinley just chillin'. I didn't have good junky shoes for her to wear so she the shoes she wore were too small. I didn't even think about it before we left. I could've gotten some at DI or something. She didn't have too much fun hiking and eventually hiked barefoot back. Sorry, Brinley!
Well, that was it! The kids were D-O-N-E...I was too. My dad got us all ice cream sandwiches while we relaxed on the grass in the shade by the hotel and restaurant. Then, we headed back to the cabin. Some of us took naps and some of us went to the pool. Then, we all got showers and ready for a family picture that my mom so desperately wanted. This is the first time in 4 years we've all been together and she wanted to document it. I don't blame her. :) After much whining from the adults, and me getting a little irritated, we got this picture. The lighting could've have worked out better to get this awesome sunburst. Not too shabby with just a tripod and a remote. The kids did great!
Then, it was dinner time and bed time and game time for the adults.
The next day a group was hiking The Narrows. Some of them rented shoes and poles, which was really a good idea with all the bedrock you hike across. The group ended up being: Rob, Shawn, J.J., David, Nate, Mandy, and my Dad. This hike has been on my dad's To-Do list so it was awesome they all got to go together. Shawn said it was the best hike he's ever done. The sites were amazing and the hike was just different going through water the whole time. I don't know why I question his abilities but he was hiking with my brother-in-law that does marathons and my brother who is in good shape, but he kept right up there with Rob hiking like a maniac and was hardly sore the next day. At one point, Shawn, Rob, J.J. & David split off from the others and just booked it through a part called Wallstreet so they could go faster. They made it through and caught back up with the others. It was really deep in some parts. J.J. and David even cliff jumped (or maybe just jumped off high rocks) a little.
Here's the group without my dad cuz he took the picture.
Shawn's the lonely guy at the top!
The rest of us girls were either prego or nursing or just watching the kids. Somebody's gotta do that! We did go back into Zion's and did the Junior Ranger program. They learned all about California Condors who happen to be one of the most disgusting animals.
They made paper airplane condors and watched them fly!
After they got their booklets and patches/pins, we went back to the cabin for naps and swimming. Zion's Pondersosa has some really great activities (that are pretty pricey) like rock climbing, 4-wheeling, zipline, trampoline bungee jump thing, horse riding, etc. But really, the pool was all we needed! It as a GREAT pool that hit THE spot! Mom and Kristy stayed with the sleeping babies while Angie, Tiff and I took the kids to the pool. There were 2 slides and we finally got Cambree to go down the little one.
By then, it was time for dinner and for the guys (& Mandy) to get back. We're so glad they all made it back safely and they had a good time. After getting the kids to bed, some of the adults went back to the pool to swim in the pool and relax in the hot tub. We were like kids going down the slide...I did go down once but that was all I could take. Then, the hot tub called to us...what a nice way to end the day.
Saturday came and it was time to leave. It was just too short. So to make it a little longer, J.J. really wanted to go rock climbing. So he found a spot for us to either go rappelling or climbing. Angie, J.J., and David rock climbed and my dad rappelled. Brinley said she wanted to rappel so they got her all ready. She chickened out. She just couldn't do it. I was proud of her for wanting to try.
With a broken arm and all, Sadie wanted to hike all over this rock. She was freaking me out!
So here is Brinley (very small) looking down the mountain. Such a brave girl.
Yikes! This was WAY too long! Part 2 in Arizona will have to be another day!

24th of July

For the 24th we spent the long weekend in Tooele with my family. My brother and his family came and my sister and her husband (he came only on Sunday because of work). We had a great time eating good food and playing games. We also did a few other things. The night we got there the kids wanted to play in the backyard. We turned on the hose and they kids had a mud-fest! My parents are ALMOST done landscaping so all the mud will either be concrete or garden or grass but right now it was just mud. So fun! Shawn was cringing the whole time. He HATES dirty kids...but mud does wash off! The kids needed a bath anyway. :)
Justus wasn't dressed for the occasion and he was good about staying out of it...I do wonder if he would've even gotten dirty anyway.
Love the mud on her nose.
Time to wash off with the COLD hose water!
Those are not squeals of delight.
All clean and cuddle time with Grandma.
The next morning was a children's parade followed by a free carnival.  We all know what children's parades are like...yeah, they are boring cuz parades are really for kids and if they're in the parade then not so fun for us. So we showed up late, just a little before the carnival.
Grandma took Sadie to get her face painted. She was so cute and sat so still.
I swear my girls can't smile normal...but here they are showing off their balloon animals and face paint.
They also had fun at the bounce houses, potato sack races, and the fishing pond. Good times.
After the carnival, we came home and had some lunch. My brother took the kids (Brinley and Cambree included) to go to the swimming pool. Shawn and I couldn't go since I had a photo shoot that day in SL...I was ok with that since I needed a nap. :) We always stay up way too late. Right after we got back from the shoot, we headed over to the theater to see the last Harry Potter in 3D with all the adults. My sister had already seen it and was so awesome to watch all the kids. The movie was amazing and met all my expectations. I had just re-read the book so everything was fresh in my mind. It was just awesome!
Sunday we went to church and relaxed. That night, we let off some fireworks and I got the pictures I didn't get from the 4th with sparklers. So fun!
Monday, I took some more pictures for my brother and his family at a duck park. Everyone came a little later to feed the ducks and have a picnic. The ducks were a little aggressive! At least they didn't bite.
Then, it started raining and it was time to go! We love spending time with family. It's always a good time. :)

Sillies

I just had to blog about this before I forgot...cuz I do that A LOT!
Today Cambree told Shawn, "I like all temples but I don't like churches."
Shawn said, "Why don't you like churches?"
She said, "Because you can get drinks whenever you want, you can't go to the bathroom whenever you want and you have to sit there a lot."
Shawn said, "But all your friends are there."
She said, "I know but I just can't play with them."
Then, she sang "I Love to See the Temple" all morning long! We're doing something right but not all of it is clicking yet. You have to go to church to get to the temple. We need to make sure she has the order right. ;)
Then, after church she didn't get her good-at-church treat because she wasn't good at all. She protested and cried and then told me she didn't want a mom anymore. She just likes dads. I guess I'm doing something right, cuz I remember saying that to my mom and I turned out just fine. :)
The girls have also been doing a lot of rough-housing where Sadie is usually the ones that gets hurt. I guess I really shouldn't be surprised with her getting a broken arm. It was bound to happen whether she fell off Shawn or playground equipment. :)
