Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! I hope the holidays haven't been too crazy to enjoy this time of year. I surprisingly have! Not too much going on...except 4 KIDS! We've had a great Christmas. There's just something special about having a baby boy at this time of year.
I LOVE giving and getting Christmas cards. This Christmas card was in my head even before Easton was born. Shawn altered it a little putting the kids' faces on the side. He said you couldn't see their faces as well in the big picture. So he kinda ruined my vision. But it's all good! Some of you I've sent this to and some of you might want one. So if you want one next year, email me your's my email: missynshawn [at] hotmail [dot] com.

2011 Christmas Update
The Hancocks have had an eventful year. It started out with quite the surprise! They were expecting a baby! This was so NOT in the plans. But when they found out that it would be a boy, they just knew it was the right time for him to come. So, they had to make sure they got some vacations in before the baby came. They went to Bear River Lodge and did some 4-wheeling with friends. Then down to Zion’s, staying in a big cabin with Missy’s family. Followed by a quick trip to Prescott, AZ to visit Missy’s sister & fam.
SHAWN is still working at the University of Utah, but he did have a position change. He is now the Financial Aid Manager over Athletics – which is fitting, considering his interests. However, it is also ironic, being that he is still a staunch BYU fan. In his free time he still likes playing softball and flag football. This year his church flag football team went undefeated. So now his church team has a softball and flag football region title. He also got a chance to hike the Narrows in Zion’s National Park with some of Missy’s family. This was by far the best hike he has ever been on.
MISSY got to check off an item on her bucket list. Shawn surprised her with tickets to the U2 concert. It was AMAZING! She is now in the Primary and is Cambree’s teacher, which is a blessing (and a curse)! Her photography business is still going strong, but has definitely slowed down with 4 kids. Having 4 kids has thrown her for a loop!
BRINLEY is now 8 and was baptized this year! She still loves soccer and has become a pretty good defender. Brinley is also continuing to take piano and is getting so good. She’s in 3rd grade and is excited to get her “license” to write cursive.
CAMBREE recently turned 6. She has been enjoying Kindergarten where her teacher says she’s good except that she likes to talk a lot. Big surprise ;) She is our little dancer! She likes to show her stuff to anyone who will watch.
SADIE is a terrific 2 year old! She hasn’t gotten jealous at all with her new brother. She loves to hold him and kiss him and know where he is at all times. Sadie’s exciting news this year was a broken arm. It broke above the elbow and it was VERY hard keeping just a sling on a 2 year old. She sort of kept it on for 2 weeks but then it was a lost cause. She also got tubes in her ears and RSV again. She’s been an expensive child! She loves climbing on things and following her big sisters around. She is a slow talker, so hopefully this next year she’ll be saying more…especially words we understand.
EASTON is about 2 months old (depending on when you get this). He can almost hold his head up and will smile at us. Big milestones! ;) He is the family favorite right now!

We love and miss all of you. We wish we could see everyone more…at least there’s Facebook! May you have a beautiful Christmas Season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior. Have a wonderful year!

Lots of random in here. These are all from November and December...getting caught up!

First up, Brinley entered the Reflections contest at school. She's wanted to do it every year and I finally let her do it this year. We started on it early before the baby came so it wasn't too crazy. She wanted to enter the Photography category (like mother like daughter!) and I showed her how to use my good camera. We went to the temple and took pictures of flowers. She LOVED it. Then, we picked out the ones she wanted to use. She wanted it to be a college which we made on Macey's website. Ta-da! She didn't win but it was a fun experience. They did have a drawing that night and she won tie-dye. Lovely mess, but fun! I even got a shirt out of it. We are all going to wear our shirts on Christmas morning, as per Brinley. :)

Ever since Brinley and Cambree have been sharing a room, their relationship as gotten so much sweeter. They play together so much better. Who would've thought? I found this precious note from Brinley and just had to save it!

My mom was turning 60 this year!! I can't believe it. She SO doesn't look 60! Anyway, I wanted to do something fun for her...I got the family on-board and it worked out to just do dinner and games at my house. So my brother and his family, my sister and her husband, my dad and my Grandma all came over. Some of it was a surprise, but my dad isn't very good at keeping it all a surprise...and neither is my sister that kinda spilled the beans a few hours before mom came over. :) Dad bought Asain take-out, we got mom a Snickers cake (Snickers are her favorite!) and all the kids went in on a wireless printer for her. She loved it!
Brinley took all the pictures...I was a little busy throwing a party and doing some video.

Last but not least, Cambree used Sadie as her guinea pig. She got creative using lip stick instead of eyeshadow. Sadie LOVED it and wouldn't let me take it off. The lip stick left her face a little pink for a few days...TWICE!

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving felt pretty low-key around here which was nice. It was the Hancock's turn for Thanksgiving and Shawn's sister, Lynnette, was hosting. Through a series of different events, it turned out that many of the Hancock family couldn't come. So it was our family, Lynnette's family, Shawn's parents, and Lynnette's friend's family who didn't have anywhere to go...kinda random, but the spread of food was awesome and we had a good time. It's nice Lynnette lives so close so we didn't have to go far.
We ALWAYS do the crazy shopping after Thanksgiving. But we decided this year (kinda by default since no one was around at 5 in the morning to be with the kids), to just do it all online. Didn't really work out so well. I even begged Shawn to get up at 4:30 to go to Home Depot to score a Christmas tree and he didn't get one. So disappointing! Oh well. Hopefully next year!
Cambree had a Thanksgiving feast at school. She makes a VERY cute Pilgrim. :)
I made some rolls (like already made rolls...I just had to put them in the oven...I wish I could make yummy homemade ones) and we put papers of what we are thankful for in them. I saw the idea on TV. Then, you try and guess who said what. It was pretty easy with our little family but still a fun tradition to start. Shawn's was pretty obvious it was from him:
I'm pretty sure he meant the edible rolls I made. ;)

All About Cambree

Back in October, Cambree was the star student in her class in Kindergarten. We made a poster (well, actually my mom made it and I took the pictures because I had just had Easton) and she took it to school. She's such a spunky but sweet girl. Here are some of the things she said:
Favorite Color: BYU Blue
Favorite Food: Quesadillas with just cheese
Favorite Ice Cream: Rainbow
Favorite Place to Visit: Mountains-staying in a cabin
People in My Family: Dad, Mom, Brinley, Sadie, Easton
Something I am Good At: Coloring
Something I Dislike: Carrots
Something I would like to learn in Kindergarten: Practice writing my letters
List some books I like to read or have you read to me (picture below).

She has always said she hates carrots but I really think its an act. She says she likes cooked carrots better. What? I always thought they weren't as good when I was a kid.
She really has quesadillas almost everyday for lunch.

And something she said just today that made us laugh:
Cambree: You know I love you very much.
Dad: Yeah, I know! I love you too.
Cambree: I don't love Mommy as much cuz she's mean.
I told Shawn that she needs to stick up for me!

Homemade Cookies

I'm really not the baking-type I've decided. I want to be but I'm not. I've pictured myself making fresh cookies right out of the oven when the kids came home from school. Has that ever happened...uh no. If we ever have cookies, banana bread, brownies, etc., it's because Shawn made them. Sometimes I help. :) Well, I actually baked and even surprised myself! Nothing too special. Brinley needed cookies for an Activity Days cookie exchange. I found my fastest cookie recipe (cake mix cookies) and made some pretty dang quick. Sadie was "helping" me and thought it was pretty fun. This was such a special occasion I even pull out the good camera. :)
This girls are home from school! And they get fresh-baked cookies! It's a Christmas miracle.

Stir Crazy

I do get a little stir crazy when I have babies. I just hate staying inside and not seeing people! It's especially hard in the fall and winter to get out cuz it's so cold. I told Shawn I just HAD to get out and I didn't want to cook. ;) So we decided it might be fun to take the kids to The Mayan. We've never taken them there before and I haven't been there since my college days. I'm so glad we went when we did because it was closed for good the very next weekend! I'd have to say for a Friday night they weren't very busy at all. The food isn't great but the entertainment is! The girls LOVED the divers and the different acts. They couldn't stop talking about it.
So getting everyone to look all at the same time with my crappy camera proved to be impossible!!

The next weekend I was still going a little crazy, so last-minute we went to Trafalga. The girls LOVE laser tag and some of the rides were open that weren't open in the summer. We also ran into some friends from our neighborhood there. I guess it's a good place to go on a Saturday night in the winter.
Cambree DID NOT want to do this ride at first. We finally talked her into it before we left and then she wanted to do it again and again. She's such a chicken sometimes.
This is how Easton spent his time there. :)
And Sadie mostly played on the playland. It was a good night.

Halloween Festivities 2011

Only a month behind...I forgot I haven't posted about Halloween! We had a great Halloween, especially with our new Pea-in-a-Pod. To kick it off, our ward had a Halloween Carnival. The kids had fun playing the games and getting candy. And then I remembered face paint all over is never a good idea.
Then, we carved pumpkins...oh...probably a week later. (The party early in the month.) The girls were really involved this time and did some of the carving. While I was taking care of Easton, Cambree turned it around and started carving on the back. She just couldn't stop!
That weekend some neighbors do a haunted house thing every year. The whole neighborhood shows up for treats and a scary time. The girls were saying they were too scared before we went in but they still wanted to go. Then, of course, when we were done they wanted to go through again! The theme this year was Wild West and they went all out! It was awesome!
Halloween Day, I had to get 4 kids ready (1 in full costume) to get to the school by 9:30 for the Halloween parade. I did it...mostly! We watched Brinley parade on through (hers I did on video) and then after Cambree went to Kindergarten in the afternoon, I got to go back to the school and see her parade through. It felt like I was running and getting kids ready all day.
Brinley made this awesome shrunken head at school. It's made out of an apple. So clever!
That night was time to go trick-or-treating! The weather was amazing! Shawn took the girls down the street and back while I sat outside. Shawn said Sadie was too slow and he was done with her. :) So she hung out with me and Easton to greet trick-or-treaters and ate entirely too much candy. Shawn took Brinley and Cambree all over the neighborhood and got way too much candy! We also made it over to Shawn's sister's house. They do a theme every year and this year they did Hanzel and Gretel. Their house looked like a gingerbread house. Jeff was locked in a cage and the kids were greeted by the ugly witch. It was great! The kids were scared too.
I love how he looks like he's standing. What a cute boy! And the chunk eaten out of his foam pea would be Sadie. :)

Cambree~6 Years Old

My little Cambree. After having Easton I was happy to get out and take Cambree's 6 YO pictures. She is so fun to photograph and usually wants to do whatever I ask of her...but not so much this time. The sun and the weeds were a big bother to her. Such is life!
Here's a little bit about Cambree.
-She is the firecracker of the bunch (so far).
-She always has something to say/do/sing...and she is definitely LOUD about it. Ugh.
-She LOVES to tease. Gets excited to tease...much like her Uncle Ryan. She especially likes Sadie as her victim...and Sadie doesn't take it so well.
-On the opposite side of that, she likes to be the mom. She likes to tell Sadie what to do but she also likes to get her dressed or out of her crib or even change her diaper.
-She has picked up reading rather quickly and loves reading to me.
-She likes to surprise me sometimes by doing jobs around the house. Love that!
-She loves to play with anyone that will play with her...even boys. :)
-She still likes playing soccer. We can't wait until she realizes her potential instead of just running around the ball.
-She still loves to dance and perform for anyone that will watch her.
-Brinley is teaching her piano and she's picking it up fairly quickly. I guess we'll be doing lessons for her too.
-She has definitely been my lifesaver during the day helping out with Easton. She loves to give him kisses, hold him and even give him a bottle. She is such a great helper in the morning when I'm trying to get everyone ready. Cambree sure is wonderful!
Now, onto the pictures!

Of course there has to be one of these moments. She was sick of sitting on the pokie weeds.
This is definitely a Cambree look with wide eyes telling me what's what.
So I wanted to try panning...didn't work out too well and she was sick of running. So I'll be trying again!
She saw this picture and wanted to remove those spots on her nose. I think she watches me Photoshop too much. I love her cute freckles!
We are so happy Cambree is in our family. She brings such life to our family. We love you, girl!

Oh! I wanted to post about one of my pictures making it to the LDS website again. It's in the Dating and marriage category. I guess they're not giving props to photographers for the galleries cuz I didn't even know it was there! Kinda fun! Click here to see it!

Easton's First Month

I can't believe he's already 6 weeks. Man! That flew by...sometimes. I won't lie. It's been rough. My mom has been here 3 times and Shawn has taken lots of work off. I don't know how people do it with kids closer than mine or with multiples! That's why I tried to space mine out cuz I know I can't handle it! Sometimes I felt like I've had postpartum depression...but I haven't. It's just the lack of sleep and caring for 3 other kids that have given me anxiety...oh, and also the bad recovery and getting fevers 3 different times. He has also been my hardest newborn (I think I said that with Sadie so I guess they just keep getting harder!). We thought he might have colic. There were several nights where he would cry for an hour or so and there wasn't anything we could do to comfort him...not even food! I think he's just super we have a new method to get out the gas and he seems to be better. But I think (and hope!) the worst is over. I made it all week without breaking down and feel almost myself again...thanks to Shawn waking up with him once a night. He really is amazing but I don't know how long he will be able to do it. He was a walking zombie this week.
Anyway, enough of the are the bright spots in those 6 weeks!

-I did his newborn pics and his announcement. LOVE the sporty feel. :)

-His first bath at home. My mom did it all while I took pictures. :) He still cries the whole time in the bath. He is not a fan.
Look at those curls!
-Sadie and Easton. I think they will be hanging out a lot together...maybe a little something like this... Sadie looks like she's guilty of something.
And hopefully a lot of this. I hope they will be best friends.

Mwah! I love to kiss his cheeks and lips!
-This is just precious. And I swear he's changing and growing up right before your eyes!
Brinley enjoying a little Easton time. :)

-Easton's first time at church-October 30th. It was the Primary Program and we didn't want to miss it!
He was actually in between cries here. If he's not asleep, eating, or being held, he's usually crying.
Ok, so Sadie looked so cute that Sunday too with her hair in a side ponytail (that didn't stay in past Sacrament meeting). She's looking so big!
And this is his 2nd week of church. He went the whole 3 hours! I just can't get enough of him in his grown-up looking clothes. I'm really loving the boy stuff!

Ok. Another one of Sadie. She LOVES to be in Easton's bouncer WAY more than he does.
Love this onesie. SO true!!

-I haven't taken nearly enough pictures of this cute guy! He looks so old already!

And this is how I'm coping with having them so close. Sadie plays on the iTouch A LOT!
