Fall Break

This year we didn't go anywhere for Fall Break...what am I even talking about? We never go anywhere for Fall Break.
So we slept in and then told the girls that if they did their jobs then we could go somewhere. Where do you want to go? Brinley said the canyon. Hmm...I was pleasantly surprised. That's a great idea and the leaves will be turning colors too so it should be nice.
After we did everything around the house and Sadie took a nap, we packed a picnic and went to the canyon. We ended up at the lake to eat. The girls threw rocks and the water and found some friends to play something with. The weather was awesome...not too cold and not too hot. It was one of those moments where I was thinking I'm the luckiest mom in the world and have the best job in the world...until Cambree peed her pants at little cuz she didn't want to use the hole-in-the-ground bathrooms. :)
Well, I still wanted to do one more little hike before we left. So we did. We found a little nature walk that had a pamphlet and we learned a few things about our canyon. I had Sadie in the backpack on my back and my shoulders were dying after just that short, little "hike". I don't know how Shawn does it. He must be buff. ;)
Had to get one pic of them all together. Definitely not the best.
Nope! No hair was done today!
This is pretty much how Sadie reacts to Cambree all the time. I think she just smothers/carries her too much. She's SO over it.
She likes Brinley a little better.

The next day, we went on a field trip with Cambree's preschool to Cornbelly's. We've never been there before so it was a lot of fun ending with my 5 YO throwing her little pumpkin and telling me she's not leaving and trying to run away. Yeah, she still acts like a 2 YO sometimes.
But before that happened, all the kids went on slides, swing, jumping pillow, mazes, duck races, hay ride, corn pit, etc. There was so much to do! I was amazed when I kept seeing more and more. Sadie was really good at staying in her stroller most of the time too. I did let her get out and crawl on the jump pillow. :)
The cute kids posing with the school bus. Cambree kept thinking she was going to ride in a bus for the field trip. I'm glad she wasn't too disappointed when it was just me driving her.
I love that she's smiling. She knows I'm taking her picture. I've got her trained good...a little too good!

I love how calm and content she looks in the picture while bouncing. Didn't think this would make her calm. I just might need one of these.

Pumpkin "Patch"

About 2 weeks ago, we went to a Pumpkin "Patch". I'm using the word patch lightly cuz it wasn't really a patch. Just a party with some bounce houses, doughnuts and pumpkins you could go pick out. My brother invited us to the party. It was very low-key but fun for the girls. They always love the bounce houses. It was Sadie's first time. She loved it!
Decorating the pumpkin with stickers...just putting them wherever they land. :)
My brother and his son. They got this disguise from the fishing booth.
 Sadie loving the bounce house!
Sadly, this is the only picture I have of Brinley...the pumpkin-head.

Soccer is coming to a close for the season. It's been a little crazy having them both in soccer with sometimes having their games at the same time and me doing a photo shoot or Shawn at a Scout camp-out, but they love it. And I'm glad they get to learn something new and get a little exercise. What we wouldn't do for our kids.
Cambree loved playing with all the kids in our neighborhood. She's a little timid but if you tell her what to do then she goes for it.
At little pep talk with the coach. They're so cute at this age and the coach does a great job with them.
This year was the first year they've had a goalie and had actual positions. Brinley loved playing goalie and did a pretty good job of it. She looks intense!
 Can't wait for spring soccer!

How Fitting

that this post be about Cambree again. Two in a row. Last night we were downstairs and we heard some pitter-pattering upstairs. We didn't care to check on Cambree and just knew she'd make it back in bed. She did but looking a little different than when we put her to bed.

Yup. Got in my make-up again. Looks like she'll be needing her beauty sleep. :)

Cambree Bambree

I already posted about her birthday, but I also must share the photos from her photo shoot I did last week.
To go with the pictures, I want to document what she's like at this age.
-She has so much personality I wonder where she got it from since I think Shawn and I are a little blah. -She is a little social bug (that I know came from me!) and ALWAYS has to be playing. In fact, just tonight she said she missed her friends and didn't get to play with anyone. I then told her 2 of the friends she in fact had played with today!
-She LOVES preschool and is picking up on things quickly. She loves to "read" the books that get sent home. Her teacher said she's good in school except when her mind is set on something, like sitting next to someone she wants to sit next to. She's a little stubborn...hmm...I wonder who she got that from...
-She's got a loose tooth already, but doesn't want me to pull it out. WAY different than Brinley.
-She still has a naughty streak. Just this week she got out the nail polish and tried to do her nails...or paint her legs and got a little on the carpet. :)
-She still loves to dance and takes it quite seriously.
Even though she keeps us on our toes, we love our Cambree Bambree (as she calls herself)!

Now, on to the pictures! I asked my neighbor if I could borrow her cute, retro stroller for Cambree's shoot. It was perfect! I would tell Cambree to talk to the baby and right away she started talking and smiling to the baby doll. It was so cute!
This old lady was walking her dog and of course Cambree can't resist dogs so was just petting her. Then the lady asked if we wanted a picture with the dog. Of course we would!

Right when I took this one, BAM! I knew it was THE one.
Sorry for all the pics. I don't know how to stop when it's my own. :) To see a few more, check out my photo blog.

Our VERY LATE Anniversary

Yup! We celebrated our anniversary 2 months late. On our anniversary I knew we weren't celebrating it so I didn't even think about it being our anniversary. But Shawn remembered (late) and wished me a happy anniversary. I can't believe I forgot...but I was packing/preparing for that super-long trip to Cali...and I'm 30 now. So enuf said. :)
So, yes, we celebrated it last weekend in Park City. We got a 4 day 3 night stay at Westgate Resort for listening to their timeshare presentation almost 2 years ago. We had to go in the off-season so that's why we had to celebrate our anniversary in October instead of August. My awesome mom was SO nice and came to watch the kids from Thursday to Saturday night. She had an early morning meeting on Sunday so Shawn's mom came on Saturday night until we came home Sunday morning. Man! It was so nice to just be together and not have to worry about bringing kids along. I guess it's time for the time log now. :) We tried to be cheap and just relax. Oh, we ate at a lot of random places due to's awesome $1 sale on $25 gift certificates. It was great especially since Park City is so overpriced.
Thursday-get to Park City, eat at a Vietnamse Restaurant, check-in to our condo (which is awesome!), go shopping at the outlets, eat dinner at Good Karma (Indo-Persian food. That's a first for me. It was good, but Shawn was annoyed with our waitress. I liked her and actually enjoyed seeing Shawn annoyed with someone), and rented Killers from Redbox.
Friday-Sleep in!!! and I was really excited to take advantage of the resort's fitness center. I LOVED going to the gym in college and haven't been able to afford it since. So we got a good workout while eating unhealthy restaurant food. :) There are quite a few nice art galleries and museums to be seen so we just walked around downtown Park City and saw some pretty awesome famous paintings replicated by spools of thread. And, of course, some nice photo galleries. Then, we ate out at Good Thymes restaraunt (normal stuff). Hit up a few stores and then went back to the condo to watch Remember Me that we rented. Yeah, we like movies. :)
Saturday-Sleep in!! Worked out, then went to the resort's awesome adult pool. It was so nice and relaxing. Went on a walk and found a Scarecrow Festival. Great photo op!
I told Shawn he needs to learn how to use my camera so he can take in-focus pictures of me! I told him a few things about what some of the settings meant and he came up with this picture. I'm so proud!
Shawn wanted a picture with the tin man. :)
I figured the girls would like this one.
Look how gorgeous! I love aspen trees! Anyone for a photo shoot in Park City??? It's got it all!

After our little walk, we were listening to the BYU game on the radio and they were actually winning! So Shawn, of course, wanted to see the game and our condo didn't get the right station so we went looking for a tv with the game. The Marriott had the game. So we watched for only about 10 minutes until it was half time. We needed to go have dinner anyway so we could make it to the movie theater on time. We ate at The Bridge (an American-Brazilian place so Shawn was happy) and it had the BYU game! Shawn was even more happy. We had to leave before the game was over to catch our movie, but it seemed like BYU was going to win and they did! It's amazing! We went and saw Inception finally. Holy cow is that movie good! It certainly makes you think. Those kind of movies are my absolute favorite!

Sunday-NO sleeping in. Get ready, pack up, and head out. We made it home an hour before church and missed our girls so much! They were all well taken care of. It's so nice we never had to worry about them. Oh...I guess only for a few hours. When I was getting ready to leave Cambree said her ear hurt and my mom kept calling to tell me that she was in a lot of pain. Luckily, Shawn's brother is a PA and called in a prescription for us so she wouldn't have to go to the doctor. When we got home she was fine!
It's definitely refreshing to be away. I feel all rejuvenated and like I can be a better wife and mother. Everybody needs a break like that.

Grandparents Day

The 2nd grade does a whole program for parents are invited...unless, of course, your grandparents can't come. Brinley had Shawn's parents come and my mom come. I got my mom to take some video so I could at least see a little of the program. I can't believe how many songs and actions they learned so fast. It seems like school just started. They sang "I Can't Spell Hippopotamus", "Zoodeo" (or something), "I Can Hear the Falling Rain", "Whattalee Otcha", a Spanish song, "It's Me", "Best Friends Should Be Together", and more. So cute. Then, they took Brinley out for ice cream afterwards. She is lucky to have such wonderful grandparents.
My mom took one picture of Shawn's parents and Brinley. I wish she would've done one of herself.

Cambree's Birthday!

My little Cambree is now 5! She turned 5 last week and I found out that she was having all her friends countdown until her birthday. So everyone knew when it was.

Her birthday was last Wednesday but because Shawn has scouts we went to Pirate Island on Tuesday. We do friend parties every other year so she chose to go to Pirate Island. We invited my brother and his family to come. Arrrrr!!

Watch where you're pointing that thing!!
  The spoils!
Sadie was so good and just stayed in her stroller. It helped that there were all sorts of games going on. She tried to eat a few. :)

On Cambree's actual birthday, we went to McDonald's and got Happy Meals and took them to Brinley's school to eat lunch with her. She was so happy since I've never done that before. She also informed me that moms can go out on the playground too. So we did. Cambree had fun playing with Brinley and her friends and feeling all big. I couldn't ever really tell what they were playing. Just lots of running and chasing and something about pretending the pine needles being poisonous...
Here's the lovely purple pig cake that Cambree wanted. As tradition, I made it. It's one of the better cakes that I've made, I have to say. I'm by no means a cake decorator! And she wanted the rainbow chip it's a pig with chicken pox!
When Shawn got home from work, we had cake and presents. Of course Barbie is the favorite. :)
On her birthday, she kept telling me that it was her birthday and she could do whatever she wanted. Not exactly. I didn't make her do any jobs or clean her room but that's about the extent of it. She was a little disappointed to say the least.
