Our 2nd Anniversary Celebration THIS YEAR!

I guess you could call it that. A couple months ago, we scored a free nights' stay at the Armstrong Mansion (or course it had to be on a week night and I apologize about the messy bedroom photo...I forgot to take a pic when we got there and I wasn't going to make the bed before we left!!). I picked up Shawn after work on Thursday and headed straight over to the Mansion to check it out. I think we were spoiled from staying at the Johnson Mill, cuz it this place was nice, but hardly compared to the Mill. There was a jetted tub with no shower and the expandable shower head didn't even work so I had to stick my head under the tap to wash it. And we didn't have hot water until we called and got it worked out. But that was the worst of it. It's just always nice to get away from the kids and be adults.

Thursday night for dinner, Shawn took me to The Roof. It's our last hoorah before we are house-poor. ;) The Roof is sentimental for us since that was our date the night we got engaged. Anyway, the buffet was magnanimous! So many yummy things to choose from and don't get me started on their 23 different desserts!! Heaven!! (I forgot my camera!! So this wasn't what I got for dessert...I got much more! And I didn't like the Frioche that's in those cups.)

Then, we went back to watch the Season Premier of The Office!!! It was pretty funny and I loved the part about Jim & Pam! It was a shocker! I hope you all saw it!! I'm just bummed that I don't have Office parties any more!
The next day we went to the NPS store to find some good deals. Good deals we did! I got some awesome wall hangings and fabric and they were 30-40% off the price (one piece was $2.50). It was a steal! Then we went to the movies and saw Eagle Eye. I'd never heard of it until Shawn was saying he wanted to see it (I don't pay much attention to things any more). It was action pretty much the ENTIRE time! But it was really good...a lot like Enemy of the State with Will Smith which I liked too.
Then we came home only to pack up again to go over to Ryan's (Shawn's brother) to stay the night. Cori and I scrapbooked,Shawn & Ryan watched football, and the girls played so it was fun.
Saturday, we came back, did some stuff around the house and then I left to go to the General R.S. Conference at the Conference Center. Cori's sister had tickets and had extra so I got to go! I wouldn't miss it! I love going to see the speakers and the prophet live. This was my first time seeing Pres. Monson as the new prophet. I just love The Spirit that I feel when I'm there, especially in his presence. After dinner at the Red Rock Restaurant, (nothing like going to a brewery before conference...we weren't the only woman going to Conference there!) we rushed down to the Conference Center, just in time! My favorite talk, probably along with most people, was Pres. Uchtdorf. He is quickly becoming one of my favorite speakers. He was so cute and funny talking about the differences between man and woman and his and his wife's cooking! Loved it! I also loved how he taught about how woman love to create things-whether it be food, memories, laughter, etc. Our Heavenly Father created us, his most beautiful creation ever. I couldn't help but think that I created my children (in a sense) and what a joy, blessing, and beauties they are. Heavenly Father must love each of us so much! The other thing I got out of his talk is that all of us experience times of loneliness, uncertainty, fear, etc. and the best way to get out of it, is to serve. I know this but the world tells us we need to help ourselves first and then we can help others. Pres. Uchtdorf said sometimes that is needed but not for long...we'll truly help ourselves if we help others first. It was such a great conference! I can't wait for General Conference next week!
So our "high" came way down when we went to drop off Cori's sister and SIL. We left their car in a parking lot and it was gone! At first I thought her husband took it or that it was stolen, but it was towed! We couldn't believe it! Out of all the cars in the parking lot, hers was the one towed!! So we called and went to the towing yard, they were just bringing it in. We just missed it! The guy was a jerk and said she couldn't have it until Monday...which they charge holding fees that will cost her about $200 by Monday to get it out. Completely messed up!!!
And, finally, today we went to what will be our new ward. It's a HUGE ward! But it didn't feel that way. Many people were really nice and welcomed us and some offered to help us when we move in. We met one lady who lives in our cul-de-sac who is Cambree's nursery teacher and says we have a neighbors. There are 2 nurseries and 3 5 year old classes, so I think we'll fit right in! Whew!

Everything's so crazy right now with house stuff, my photography business stuff, etc. that I forgot to post about my weekend, almost a week ago! Donell, my friend from Tooele, came up with her husband so we could double. It's so nice and easy for Barbara to babysit...that will be missed when we move! We went to Texas Roadhouse (again, but we didn't mind!) and then hurried over to the Dollar movie (why is NOTHING good playing?!!) and finally saw Hancock! How could we not see a movie that has our name all over it, even though we knew it didn't get good ratings?!! Now, hopefully everyone will spell our name right!! So the movie was ok...LOTS of SWEARING, but pretty good. I didn't see one thing coming. After the movie, we sat and talked and talked in the yucky Dollar movie lobby. Shawn even saw a guy that was in his mission...so that was fun. I just love going out with Donell and Colin. We all get along and have so much fun!
Here's a business card I 1/2 designed (got to download from a fellow photography friend). Pretty cute, huh? Now, I need to start handing these suckers out!!

Potty Training BRIBES!!

Sorry for all the posts about potty-training, but it's part of my life right now and I do sincerely HATE potty training!! But we had a MINOR breakthrough today!! Like I've said before, Cambree's been having a hard time pooping in the potty. She's scared. We've tried EVERYTHING...toys, treats, parties, McD's, ice cream, calls from Spongebob (Not that Spongebob is her favorite thing, but Shawn does do a great impersonation!), etc. She wasn't going for any of it! Today, she was freaking out cuz she knew she needed to go but didn't want to. So, I decided to leave her underwear and pants off until she went. Now, I know what could happen (going poo on the floor and her wiping it all over) but I know she's scared of it and probably wouldn't do that. After about a 1/2 hour of her naked, she started screaming "Mommy!! Mommy!! Poop is everywhere!!" Sure enough! 3 plops of poo on the carpet (luckily it wasn't runny and I just picked it up w/TP)! So I ran her to the toilet where she actually sat without crying and did her dooty!! She said, "It's not scary." I was shocked!! So, it was a 1/2 accomplishment. We'll see if she does it again! And she got her Barbie shoes that she's been wanting AND a call from Spongegbob AND an ice cream party. I sure promised her alot in my desperateness!

I saw this on Stacia's blog (an old HS friend, how appropriate!) and thought it was SO funny!! I wanted to give it a try!

Can you guess which one I might have a picture that looks like one of these? I'll give you a hint...it's NOT 1988!! Maybe I'll even post it, if I get lots of participation!

So I think it's about time that I get a Photo Blog! I thought it would be a lot of work and I've been so busy but I think I've got some things under control! I even thought of a Business name. It has taken me MONTHS to think of one and then, Shawn just blurted out eXpressions Photography and I just love it!! So there you go! I've still got some things to add but the basics are all there. Go check it out! (And I KNOW that it looks a LOT like this blog, but I don't have access to a whole lot of resources!!)

I also just did this shoot this week for little Hayden and a few of his brother. There are more pics on my Photo Blog.

We Found Our Dream House(Edited)

And our offer was accepted!! Yea! We found it!! As soon as we walked into this house, I fell in love with it! It's definitely a house we'll be able to stay in for a LONG time, if not forever, and that was our goal! We love the neighborhood and the area! It has a fenced yard too and a finished basement! We were so picky that I can't believe we were able to find this house! Yea! So, here are some pictures of the place...it hasn't been lived in for over a year, so you'll have to use your imagination...it also needs new paint and carpet on the main level. (There weren't any pictures online, so these are my lovely pics with Shawn and our Realtor in them.)
Front Room and Formal Dining Room (we might eventually wall it off and have a den).

Kitchen & Family Room looking towards the front door.
Family Room off Kitchen w/Fireplace

Backyard w/garden area...yup! We're going to try to plant a garden!

Master Bath (they've kind of been painting in there, but not for a while it looks like).

Wet Bar in Basement.

Cute paint in beadboard in bedroom (too bad it's in the basement! Brinley & Cambree will eventually have this room when they get older!)

Family Room, Movie Room, Toy Room in Basement

**So several of you have asked questions about the place. I'm surprised at all the interest!! It's 3200 sq feet, 6 bedroom 3 and 1/2 bath. (I know!! all that cleaning!! Brinley's learning how to vacuum as we speak!!) We close on October 22, but will probably paint and clean so we hope to be in before Thanksgiving. I'm not saying where it's at, but it's where we wanted to be! We're so happy about that!! So, I might just have a painting party for those that want to paint!! I'll probably have a housewarming party too since this is hopefully the last house we buy EVER!!! Yea!

SL Libraries ROCK!!

Thanks everyone for all your potty-training advice. Potty training, I feel, is one of the worst things ever to do in life and it HAS to be done!! But, Cambree hasn't had ANY accidents since my last post...the only problem she still has is the pooping issue. And from many of your suggestions, we bought a toy yesterday (that is a story in and of itself!! I put her in a diaper cuz she insisted so she could poo and poo she did!! I had a "mess" on my hands at the store!!) for her to work towards getting when she actually "does her duty" in the toilet!
Maybe I've been a little deprived living in Tooele with their sad excuse for a library, but I'm WAY impressed with the little South Jordan one!! We went to Zoomania last night where they brought all these animals from different countries, talked about them, and let ALL the kids pet them!! There were TONS of kids!! My girls were so excited!! There were birds, a dog, ferret, iguana, hedgehog, guinea pigs, chickens, another lizard thing, snake, and a lion-headed bunny (a new species, mind you! and the one we saw was black). When it was time to leave, Cambree screamed bloody-murder! So I guess it's a sign that all went well. :) I'm sure story time will be much better than Tooele too and we'll get there hopefully sometime this week!! So I get to have a library card here in the wonderful Salt Lake Library system where you can request books from different libraries!! I will never again have to buy a book for book club again!!! I just thought I'd share my joy with all of you!

And BTW, I took some pictures of Zoomania with my cell phone but am too dumb to know how to get them on my computer. Do you have to buy a special cord? Do you email it somehow? I'm really not SO into my cell phone...I don't ever play around with it for fear that every little thing will cost extra...but if anyone could shed some light on that, then there might be pictures to go with this post!

Potty Party!

So this week I've been potty training Cambree. I figure now is a good time since we're here at the in-laws and I have less responsibilities...I just hope it doesn't backfire when we move. She's been ready for a little while and loving the idea of underwear (she puts Brinley's on), but I just couldn't do it before we moved with everything going on. AND potty training Brinley was such a pain that I wasn't quite ready to go through all that again!!
Anyway, she's been doing pretty good with fewer and fewer accidents per day...she still wears a diaper at night and a pull-up during nap time. I think it definitely helps to have an older sister who goes in the potty. The only problem we've had is with her going poop in the potty. She went once and got so freaked out! I couldn't help but laugh...but then it wasn't funny anymore cuz she would poop in her underwear or insist on wearing a diaper. She won't do it for candy or toys. Any suggestions???

Brinley's 1st Day of KINDERGARTEN!!!!

You all knew this post was coming and, no, it's not late! It's year-round school here and when we got here they were off-track. So she's been anxiously waiting to start school!! Last week, we went to the school and got all registered and met her teacher. Brinley wanted to start that day!! The day has finally arrived!! My first-born is going to school!! But, she's in afternoon Kindergarten...so all morning she was wondering when it was time to go. FINALLY, I took her to school! She didn't even want me to walk up with her to school but I thought I'd better anyway. It was good that I did cuz she didn't really know quite what to do. She played for a little and then lined up to go inside. Then I left.
A few hours later when I was about to go pick her up from the bus stop (I have to drive her to school cuz they don't have enough kids for a bus to take her there, but I do get reimbursed for taking her there...have you ever heard of that?) I got a call from her school saying she missed the bus. I was annoyed cuz I talked to her teacher and told her what bus to put her on and to make sure the bus driver knew which stop she needed to get off at (I know!! The stress of it all!!!). Turns out, the bus that she was supposed to get on wasn't even there. So poor Brinley was crying when I saw her cuz she really wanted to ride the bus and was scared and all of that. So that's too bad, but she's already talking about going again tomorrow and getting on the right bus this time.
Oh! I forgot to add more drama! We couldn't find the new backpack we bought her before we moved. We dug through all our boxes and can't find any of her backpacks!! It's totally bugging me that I can't find it!! So, my niece let Brinley borrow/keep this backpack. Brinley was so sad she didn't have her new one, but was excited to use her older cousin's backpack.
Whew!! That's a long explanation!!! But that's how our life is right now!!

New Hairdos!

Sorry, everyone! I don't think I'll be posting any pics of our dream house...it has an offer already...I'm so sad! I've been trying to push Shawn but he's been wanting to wait. I guess it wasn't meant to be. I'm sad about it though.
So, Maylyn had these hair sites on one of her posts and I decided to check them out. Most of them I'll probably never do (they take WAY too long and let's face it! I just can't figure them out!), but I wanted to check them out to get some new ideas that might not be too time-consuming. I found one! It's pretty much the same pull hair through thing that I do a lot but with all the hair. I can handle that! I did it on Cambree's hair and I thought it turned out cute! (I just noticed in the picture that there are some flyaways, but I don't care.)
So here are some of the sites you can check out:

Labor Day Weekend

I really needed a fun weekend...I was SO ready to be out with some friends!!
Friday night, SIL Jody invited us to go out with her and Bryce (Shawn's bro). Yea! We wanted to go out to a movie but nothing good (any suggestions?) was playing and Jody had already seen Mama Mia 2 times...so we waited an hour to get into Texas Roadhouse to eat. I can never get enough of their YUMMY rolls with cinnamon butter!! My mouth is watering just thinking about them!
Saturday we woke up early to get down to Cedar Hills to go house hunting. We found our dream house!! I just don't know if we can make it a reality...so I'm stressing about it...I'll let you know if we make it happen.
Then, we went to the BYU game!! Thanks to my childhood friend, Katie, and her husband we got to go with them to the first BYU game!! I had a really good time catching up with Katie (she lives in St. George) and we did watch the football game too. (Thanks, Katie, for the pics I stole off your blog since I didn't bring my camera!)Shout out to Kelly Brown whose brother Dennis Pitta really ripped it up in that game!! If it wasn't for him, the game would've been really close!!! We were all comfy with a big lead in the first 1/2 and then in the 3rd quarter it was fumble after fumble with only a few yards to a touchdown. So frustrating!! But in the 4th, they came back. The final score 41-17! They better play harder with the upcoming game against Washington St. next week!! YIKES!!!
Sunday we got to relax and Monday we went house hunting again. This time in AF and PG. Some nice ones but we are so hooked on Cedar Hills that we just can't fall in love with any of the other ones!
